Privacy policy for Groceries

Groceries is designed to keep your data private and on your device. The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, or tracking. This policy covers the app itself. The website and its contact form are covered by the website privacy policy. The German version of this page is the legally binding one.

How your data is processed

Data stored by the app

Groceries stores the information you enter, such as item names, quantities, store names, tags, list order, and app settings, locally on your device. This information is not transmitted to the developer, and the developer cannot access it. Because it stays on your device, this data is not processed by the developer within the meaning of the GDPR.

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your app data may be included in those backups. Apple is the controller for that processing, which is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Backups and sharing

When you export a backup or share a list, you choose where the exported file or text is sent using Apple’s system interfaces. Groceries does not automatically upload these exports or send a copy to the developer. The destination you select, such as iCloud Drive, another storage provider, or a messaging app, may process the information under its own privacy policy.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Groceries contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. It does not create an advertising profile or sell personal information. Apple may process App Store usage and diagnostic information according to your device settings and Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Support requests

If you contact support about the app, your enquiry is handled as described in the website privacy policy, which sets out the processors involved, the legal basis, and the retention period.

Retention and deletion

Your in-app data remains on your device until you delete individual content, use “Delete all app data” in Settings, or remove the app. Backups that you exported separately are under your control and must be deleted from their destination separately.

Automated decision-making

No automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR takes place.

Your rights

Rights as a data subject

Under the GDPR you have the right to request access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), and data portability (Article 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Article 21).

Because your data never leaves your device, the developer holds no such data to act on. These rights apply to any enquiry you send. To exercise them, use the contact form or the email address above.

Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement (Article 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for the controller is:
